Ringwood Carnival has been given a boost with a £1,000 cash injection from Bournemouth store Beales.

The money will go towards prizes for entries in the two processions on September 18.

Spokesman Leigh Whitbread said: “We were dead chuffed to get them on board in tough economic times. It’s good to get a big major sponsor in.”

The hour-long children’s procession will leave Parkside Industrial Estate at 2pm for its tour of the town taking in High Street, Market Place, Meeting House Lane and Mansfield Road, while the torchlight parade will take the same route setting off at 7.15pm and returning to the start point at about 8.30pm.

Carnival Queen this year is Poppy Morgan, 16, and her Attendants are Amy Bower and Brogan du Ploy. Two Lucys, Holmes and Edmunds, are the Princesses, both from Ringwood Junior School.

There is also a fair on Bickerley Common on Thursday, September 16, Friday Frolics featuring six year six teams from six local schools between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at the same venue on the Friday and Village Green stalls on the Saturday.
