A HOLOCAUST survivor has spoken of his shock at news that a shop is selling figures of the architects of the concentration camps.

Boscombe Collectibles Modellers Loft in Christchurch Road is selling 12-in models of Reinhard Heydrich, the man who oversaw the Wannsee Conference that settled on the ‘final solution’ – the deportation and extermination of Jews during the Second World War.

The shop is also selling figures of SS commander and overseer of the camps, Heinrich Himmler, as well as Hitler’s successor, Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz, and Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, plus Second World War soldiers from the USA, Britain, Japan, Italy and Germany.

The figures are highly detailed and cost in the region of £70. They are also widely available online and the series includes Adolf Hitler.

Bournemouth Holocaust survivor Mark Goldfinger said the only reason he could see for buying one of the figures was “stupidity”.

He added: “It’s terrible that people would like to have these monsters to look at. It’s unthinkable, it’s unspeakable behaviour and it’s very odd.

“Do they not have any idea of what they’re touching upon?”

Rabbi Adrian Jesner of Bournemouth Hebrew Congregation said: “I don’t think they should be on sale. I’m saddened and disappointed that people have to use these caricatures to make a living from when there’s so much out there that’s good that they could be making a living from.

“It’s disappointing and I feel it’s insensitive.”

The figures are made by 3R – 3Reich – which manufactures a range of historical figures.

The company’s website features the words: “Our product is for historic education purposes only, and is not intended to glorify, nor exploit the horrors and atrocities of war”.

When the Daily Echo contacted the Boscombe shop, a member of staff said the owner was not available, added that the same warning text was printed on the boxes the figures were sold in.
