GARRY May has been given the green light to bring a new face into his Buccaneers team.

But Bournemouth Castle Cover’s boss says he’s happy with the side he’s got at the moment following back-to-back away wins.

Crucial victories at Weymouth and Rye House have boosted the defending National League champions’ hopes of squeezing into the play-offs and retaining their title.

Speaking ahead of their crucial home clash against Plymouth tonight (7.30pm), May said: “Now we have a genuine chance of making the play-offs. We’re still in it.

“We have five home matches to come and we have to win them all, including against Mildenhall and Rye House, who are above us and who we need to take points off. So we haven’t given up yet.

“There can still be more team changes. I’m employed by (Buccaneers owner) Matt Ford to do a job and I’ll do whatever it takes. I have a job to do to get Bournemouth into the play-offs.

“If we have to make changes to do it, we will. At the moment, (assistant-manager) Neil Vatcher and I are happy with what we’ve got.

“But if a rider becomes available, we may make a change.

“If we can get in the top four, over two legs in the play-offs, we feel we still have a good chance of beating any other team.

“The key to our 48-42 win at Rye House on Saturday was we had team spirit again. We all rallied round to help each other again.

“Everyone was involved and we just came through in the end.”

May confirmed James Brundle and Kyle Howarth would represent Buccaneers in the National League Pairs’ Championship at Newport on August 7.

Bournemouth’s boss said: “We can use any two of our top four, so James and Kyle will be doing it.

“James is our number one and Kyle rode well to get 10 points in our 54-36 defeat at Newport in the league, so he deserves his place.

“They must have a good chance of winning the pairs’ because all you have to do is finish second and third.

“On top of that, James and Kyle both gate quickly and you really need to make good gates at Newport.”

Before then, on Friday, Howarth and John Resch represent Buccaneers in the British Under-18 Championship at Somerset.

May said: “Kyle was second to Jerran Hart in last year’s final at Scunthorpe and he can get on the podium again if he has a good meeting.

“John needs all the experience he can get. It’ll be a big meeting for him and he has to do the best he can.”

Resch returns from unavailability for Bournemouth against Plymouth.

Buccaneers: Brundle, Mason, M Baseby, Halsey, Howarth, A Baseby, Resch.
