A 500lb unexploded bomb has been detonated at Studland this afternoon.
The World War II device was discovered on heathland between Ferry Road and Little Sea yesterday afternoon.
It was of no immediate danger, so army bomb disposal experts were scheduled to destroy it safely today between 2pm and 5pm. The explosion was heard at just after 2.20pm.
Ferry Road was closed at 2pm and currently remains closed and the chain ferry is suspended.
