WINNER of this year’s SXSW Audience Award, When You’re Strange: A Film about The Doors is the first feature documentary on The Doors telling the story of one of America’s most dark and dangerous bands.
Using only original footage shot between 1966 and 1971 director Tom DiCillo opens a window into the band’s world of fame, drugs and alcohol but always returns to their fierce commitment to the music.
Narrated by Johnny Depp, it not only chronicles singer Jim Morrison’s struggles and excesses, but tells the story of Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore; four musicians whose refusal to compromise inspired a generation; and beyond.
See it at the Lighthouse (Tues only at 8.30pm)
