When 28-year-old Jonathan Haselden from Bournemouth decided he wanted to gather together a bevy of beautiful ladies and make an assault on the pop charts, he realised he was going to have to adopt a pro-active approach.

“I wanted to release a single, but rather than wait for a label to take notice I decided to try and get everything done myself,” says the former St Peters school student.

“I don’t think musicians always pay enough attention to the music videos that go with their songs, so I made that a priority.

“The single is called I Am Miss Pretty so I wanted to give as many girls as possible the chance to be involved in the video and celebrate beautiful girls the world over.”

When Jonathan began his project he had hoped to get around 200 girls involved, but at last count his I Am Miss Pretty Facebook group has over 2,350 members, most of which are girls wanting to be involved.

“I’ve been a bit shocked at the response to be honest – it’s gone worldwide. We’ve got girls involved from America, Canada, Spain and various other countries.”

Nadia and Nicola from Bournemouth are signed up to the group and hoping to be selected.

Jonathan was approached by a music video director who had seen the Facebook group – and previously worked with Neo and The Sugababes – offering his services free of charge.

“It’s all been happening like that. People have been hearing about the project and wanting to get involved – it’s great.

“The idea for the video is something a bit like the Robbie Williams Rock DJ video where we can get as many of the girls involved as possible. We’re hoping to get between 400 and 1,000 girls on the front cover of the single and as many as we can appearing in the video.

“Obviously I’m aiming for the top spot, but realistically if it can get into the top 40 that will be a big success.”

I Am Miss Pretty will be released on August 23. See iammisspretty.com
