After the fractious, disjointed tones of their 2004 debut that impressed none other than David Bowie, New York's TVOTR return with something approaching full songs complete with verses, choruses and everything!
The Thin White Duke crops up on Province, possibly the best song here, a crisp but mind-blowing extravagance of sound. Wolf Like Me is pretty good as well building nicely from the start, slowly right down in the middle then going window-licking crazy at the end. Songs don't so much start and stop, they merge, meander and melt away which can be annoying not least because it sounds like you're crossfading at random between your fav-ourite Radiohead, Spiritual-ized, Brian Wilson and Peter Tosh records. Frustrating but in a good way.
