BOURNEMOUTH Poppies have finished their close season business after tying up another three signings.

Wingers James Bailey-Pearce and Gary Langrish, who were with Poppies before they set off travelling to Australia, have put pen to paper at Victoria Park again, while Poole Town defender Ollie Cherrett has also joined James Wood's side.

Wood told the Daily Echo: "James and Gary are two excellent signings. When we won 12 games on the bounce at the start of last season and were top of the league, they were an integral part of that. As soon as they left, we never really replaced them.

"Getting them back is like having two new signings a lot of clubs were after them as soon as they knew they were back in the area.

"But it was important we got them because of the way I am looking for us to play next season."

Wood also believes that Cherrett's decision to join was influenced by the capture of another ex-Dolphin Leigh Phillips.

The Poppies boss said: "I had to bring in another central defender because James Baker is going into the RAF and will get a placement that could be anywhere in the country.

"We identified Ollie as a target, but I didn't think we'd be able to get him.

"But I think that Leigh coming over has shown what kind of ambition we have. I'm delighted we've signed Ollie because he's a very good young player."

Wood added: "I think that is my squad done now unless someone turns up out of the blue. You never turn players away and we could lose a few for whatever reason. But at this moment, I'm happy with what I've got.

"We have done what we set out to do with the exception of losing Scott Joyce.

"To get the squad as strong as it is now, is very encouraging for the new season."

Meanwhile, Sydenhams Premier rivals Christchurch have signed ex-Winchester City and Eastleigh striker Mark Lilley to boost their striking resources.

Christchurch boss Andy Leader said: "We felt we needed another striker and Mark is a very good player. He's strong, got quick feet and he's very fast he will score plenty of goals for us."

Defender Steve Linpow, who has just returned from America, has also rejoined the Hurn Bridge outfit.

Ex-Lymington and New Milton loanee Tyronne Bowers has joined Sydenhams Premier side VT FC.
