A golden glow surrounded one Bournemouth hotel on Saturday despite the grey skies that hovered above the town.
For among the visitors to the Village Hotel on Deansleigh Road was double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes.
Dame Kelly had dropped in to provide top tips on fitness and running to users of the hotel’s health and fitness facilities.
The golden girl – who took gold in the 800 and 1500 metre events at the 2004 summer games in Athens – had checked in to support the hotel’s Perfect Fit programme.
Visitors were offered the opportunity to meet Dame Kelly and talk over the health benefits of a regular exercise programme.
And with two years still to go until the London Olympics, Dame Kelly’s Bournemouth visit may have been made in time to inspire athletes from the town focussed on the 2012 games.
