A STUDENT had a miraculous escape yesterday morning after her car became wedged between two buses in the Winton area of Bournemouth.

Emergency services were scrambled at 11.37 am following reports that a black Ford Ka was jammed between a double-decker Yellow Bus and single-decker Wilts and Dorset vehicle.

Darren White, 40, was working in Graham’s Electrical when he heard the commotion outside. He told the Daily Echo how he and his colleague Lee Jeff had gone out to offer assistance along with their boss Andy Lee, who helped direct traffic until police arrived.

Darren said: “People were getting off one of the buses but no-one was helping the woman driver who was trapped inside her car.

“She managed to get the keys out of the ignition and hand them to us so we were able to open the boot and help her out.

“I think she had been overtaking one bus when the other one hit her.

“She was a bit shaken but wasn’t injured. Considering how small her car was compared with the buses, she was very lucky to have escaped unhurt.”

The Ka driver, who is believed to come from the Eastleigh area, waited in nearby Salon 1336 until her father arrived to take her home.

An employee in the hairdressing salon said: “She was literally wedged in between the buses. Apart from being shocked she was fine. Her car looked quite badly damaged.”

And a worker at nearby Fillers sandwich shop said: “We heard a crunch and, when we realised what had happened, took out some teas to those involved.”

A Dorset police spokesman said Wimborne Road had been closed while recovery of the vehicles involved in the crash took place.
