French ship brings goodwill to Poole Quay

FRENCH navy patrol vessel Le Pluvier has arrived at Poole Quay for a goodwill visit this weekend.

Capitaine de Corvette de Bouteiller, along with deputy mayor of Cherbourg Madam Guylaine Godin and councillor Yvane Keraudren were entertained by Poole Mayor Charles Meachin in the mayor’s parlour.

Used to patrol the Channel and for fishery protection, the ship, which has a crew of 22, will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 12 noon and 2pm to 5pm.

“It is free and people can come and see us,” said the captain, who is on his first visit to Poole. The ship arrived on Friday afternoon and leaves on Monday.

Laurie
Have no fear, Lord Nelson is still with his neighbour The Jolly Sailor on Poole Quay keeping an eye out for any dastardly French deeds!
Poole expects every man to do his duty and get down to the Quay to welcome the French, now that we have waved goodbye to the Barfleur!

I think you'll find a French sniper did away with Nelson a couple hundred years back.
The Jolly Sailor left last week on the Barfleur, he'd had enough as well.

The last mob that welcomed the French were led by a bloke called Harold and he got something in his eye!
