DORSET’S “after dinner speaker of the year” will address the gala fundraising dinner of the Rotary Club of Blandford on Saturday (28).
Retired army officer and banker, David Thwaites, who has travelled widely in Africa, will entertain guests at the black tie dinner at the Crown Hotel.
Mr Thwaites has stepped in to replace former Lord Mayor of London, Sir Anthony Jolliffe, who has been delayed by a prolonged trip to Brazil.
A four-course dinner, a charity auction of "big-value" items donated by local businesses, a raffle and dancing are also planned.
Tickets cost £30 and are available from the Crown Hotel.
