A JURASSIC theme playground has proved a monster hit with Swanage youngsters.

The King George Play Area, boasting a specially-designed wooden dinosaur and crocodile, was completed thanks to a £85,000 injection of national lottery cash.

Local group Play, who have worked tirelessly for years to obtain funding, welcomed the completion of the final building phase.

Gill Dight and Sue Bryant, from Play, said: “It’s been many years of hard work but it’s great to see the third and final phase completed.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and involvement and especially the town council and Purbeck District Council.”

District council housing and social issues spokesman Cllr Beryl Ezzard said: “Purbeck District Council has enjoyed working with the community in Swanage and the town council, who have supported this project.

“We know the children and families of the area will make full use of, and enjoy, the new play equipment and garden.”
