THE woman who died when her car was involved in a collision with a petrol tanker in East Dorset has been named as 70-year-old teacher Wendy Rumbold.
The collision between a silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa and a white Scania petrol tanker happened at Mill Street, at the junction of the A31 near the Coventry Arms pub and the B3074 at 7.50pm on Thursday.
Wendy, of Bournemouth, died of multiple injuries.
The tanker driver, a 44-year-old man from Newport in South Wales, was shocked but uninjured.
Police are repeating their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward in confidence.
The A31 was closed for several hours while police investigators examined the scene.
An inquest was opened for identification and adjourned to a later date at Bournemouth coroners’ court in Stafford Road, yesterday.
