SURFER Chloe Lyttle ended up in agony after a close encounter with a huge jellyfish at Boscombe Pier.
The 20-year-old student and activities leader suffered painful stings and swelling to her knees after a 50cm Portuguese Man O War attached itself to her legs.
The incident took place on Tuesday August 25 and Chloe, of Maple Road, Winton, was forced to go to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s A&E unit.
“My friend and I tried to pull the jellyfish off my knees and ended up rubbing it with sand to get it off” said Chloe. “They gave me antibiotics and antihistamine at the hospital but I still have scabs and scars on my legs.”
Chloe said she only saw one of the jellyfish and hasn’t seen any since. “I was told this was very unusual” she added.
