CELEBRITY gardener Charlie Dimmock stopped off at Studland Beach to promote a charity walk.

The Coast Along for WaterAid takes place on Saturday, September 12, and Charlie spent her birthday last Friday walking a seven-and-a-half stretch of the South West Coast Path to publicise the event.

The 630-mile path runs from Poole to Minehead through Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. This year the event has been extended to include the 185-mile Pembroke coast path in South Wales.

For the walk next month the paths have been divided into sections of between four and 15 miles to make sure there is something for everyone.

Charlie asked family and friends to make a donation to WaterAid instead of buying her birthday presents.

She said: “I cannot think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than enjoying this beautiful stretch of coast and I’ve had such a laugh with my friends and family and raised money for a wonderful cause.”

Past events in 2005 and 2009 attracted hundreds of participants and raised more than £120,000 to help those living in extreme poverty.
