WHAT’S the easiest way to get to this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival? Simple – just park, ride and fly.

With tens of thousands of people expected to converge on the coast for every day of the adrenaline-fuelled event, parking spots will be at a premium.

Instead, organisers are urging visitors to use a park and ride service that will operate throughout the four-day festival, which starts on Thursday August 20 and runs until Sunday, August 23.

There are three official park and ride sites – Bournemouth University Talbot Campus and Kings Park can be used on all four days while Littledown Centre, Chaseside will provide additional support on the Saturday and Sunday.

The cost of parking and a bus ride to town is £10 for a group of up to 7 people.

Alternatively, visitors are advised to cycle to the town centre and make the most of the additional cycle racks located along the East Cliff Overcliff or use a regular bus service.

Taxi drivers are on standby for large amounts of passengers and South West Trains is offering a £10 return ticket from any SWT station to Bournemouth on the Saturday and Sunday.

Matt Callow, commercial manager at Wilts and Dorset, said: “The aim is to make leaving your car as easy as possible.

“There are so many alternative ways of getting to this year’s More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival, whether it’s bus, park and ride, bike or train – transport options are in place so we can avoid as much road traffic and town centre congestion as possible.”
