FERRETS, heavy horses, and welly throwing are just some of the attractions at this year’s Pimperne village show on August 31.

Villagers are expanding the attractions from the village hall to the field opposite, and have included a range of fun events alongside the traditional horticultural and craft competitions.

A fun dog show, bouncy castle, and face painting will be laid on for youngsters, while a visit in a fire engine from local fire crews demonstrating the best way to put out a chip pan fire should entertain adults and children alike.

Cream teas and ice creams will be among the refreshments available, with all profits going to Age Concern, the Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre, and the Blandford Branch of the Exeter Drug Project.

Entry costs £1 for adults. Admission for children is free. The event runs between 1pm and 5pm.
