A PUB landlord was allegedly chased around a packed village pub by a teenager brandishing a kitchen knife after he refused to serve the boy alcohol.

Father-of-two Geoff Mockland, who runs the Dorset Soldier pub in Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen, says he refused to serve some youths whom he suspected had fake IDs and threw away a can of their Carlsberg special brew.

One then allegedly pulled out an eight-inch bladed kitchen knife from his sock and chased him around the pub in the incident, which happened around 8.47pm on Thursday.

The teenager ran out into the pub car park and allegedly made threats to onlookers.

Geoff, 50, said: “He got quite abusive and started shouting and swearing. He pulled a knife out of his sock. The blade was between seven and eight inches.

“I ran out into the other bar. I wanted to get him out of the lounge where there were people dining. The pub was packed. I didn’t want anybody else to get hurt. He just ran out into the car park and was waving the knife around. I think he was on drugs or strong alcohol.”

He added: “This is the first incident I’ve had in four years I’ve been here. It’s not a regular occurrence and you wouldn’t expect it to happen here.”

Geoff, who has a policy of not serving alcohol to under-21s, called for it to be implemented nationally to crack down on alcohol-fuelled violence.

l Two males – a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old – were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
