Brothers Tato (Garcia Bernal) and Beto (Luna) sweat blood and tears on the banana plantations to keep a roof above the head of their mama (Dolores Heredia).
They spend any spare time on a dustbowl football pitch as striker and goalkeeper of the village team.
A talent scout, Batuto (Guillermo Francella), happens to see them play and offers Tato a spot at the prestigious Deportivo Amaranto club, where he becomes a minor celebrity with a sexy girlfriend called Maya (Jessica Mas).
