POOLE’S James Lelliott saw his European Youth Olympic Festival campaign come to an abrupt end as Team GB crashed out of the sprint relay in Finland.
The 16-year-old – who failed to qualify for the long jump final earlier in the week - teamed up with Liam Clowes, Themba Luhana and Ainsley Campbell but they couldn’t book their place in today’s final.
It capped a nightmare week for English Schools’ silver medallist Lelliott after his effort of 6.63 metres in long jump qualification on Tuesday saw him miss the cut.
Team GB had been expected to challenge for medals in the relay but the quartet registered a time of 43.33 seconds to finish sixth in their heat.
