Monty Python meets Carry On Pirates of the Caribbean in this 1983 romp starring Graham Chapman as a deranged pirate intent on reclaiming his buried treasure. It’s a well-mounted production and the cast list, which includes Peter Cook, Marty Feldman, James Mason and Spike Milligan, is impressive.
But it never gathers momentum and much of it falls flat. Having said that, there are moments to cherish (“Sounds like there’s been a squabble”.
“Squabble? They’re all dead.” “Must have been more of a tiff.”)
