FASHION shows, street fairs and live music are among a host of events planned for this weekend.

Around 10,000 visitors are expected to descend on Lulworth for Camp Bestival.

The family-friendly festival in the picturesque setting of Lulworth Castle is a sell-out and will feature performances from Will Young, Florence and the Machine, Goldie Lookin’ Chain and P J Harvey, among others.

More family fun is on offer in Bournemouth tomorrow night as the town hosts the first in its series of Family Fiesta nights.

Stilt walkers, costume characters, storytellers and magicians will be entertaining children from 8pm and there will also be a disco and a fireworks finale.

Bournemouth Square will then become a temporary catwalk as the town hosts its first fashion weekend.

The event will include hair and make-up demonstrations and daily fashion shows.

England rugby stars Paul Sackey and Ugo Monye will be taking part in the O2 Scrum on the Beach.

Visitors to this free family festival on Boscombe beach will be invited to put their beach rugby skills to the test or just relax and enjoy the entertainment. Saturday also sees the popular Milton Abbas street fair, which transports visitors back in time to the 18th century.

The Daily Echo-backed event includes dozens of different stalls and plenty of live music and entertainment.

Saturday also sees the launch of Swanage Carnival, including a display by the Red Arrows.

The Red Arrows will also be roaring in to add excitement to the Damerham village fair on Damerham’s cricket ground.

Other events to consider include Milford family dog show and Poole Housing Partnership’s annual Respect Fest at Oakdale Community Centre and playing field.

The Red House Museum in Christchurch will be inviting people to dig for treasure as they celebrate National Archaeology Day.

And Upton Country Park will host Roman Around as part of the Festival of British Archaeology.

This will feature a salt worker’s house made from authentic materials, Roman storytelling and cookery demos.

Visitors to Lulworth Cove will be greeted by the sight of 89 batik flags, which will be displayed above Stair Hole in the culmination of The Valentine Flags community-based arts project.

And the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne will offer storytelling, stalls, lacework and silver displays as part of its Viking Weekend.

Sunday’s events include an environmental festival day at Hengist-bury Head, where young visitors will be invited to try their hand at bird watching and pond dipping.

And it is also the day of the Swanage Carnival procession, which will begin its parade through the town at 3pm; and the Sunday Best Music Fest at Fernheath Playing Fields, Verney Road, West Howe.
