FITNESS is part of the job description for a sports teacher.

But Tracy Cook, 34, the head of girls’ games at Clayesmore School near Blandford, has exceeded that requirement.

Tracy has dominated the ladies’ triathlon circuit this year, taking victories at recent events in Bournemouth, Salisbury, and Weymouth.

Success in the Bournemouth International Triathlon saw the dedicated teacher finish five minutes ahead of the nearest of her 260 rivals after a 1500 metre swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run.

A gruelling training schedule sees Tracy start her working days in the school swimming pool, and run up to 40 miles a week.

Clayesmore’s girls are proud of her achievements, Tracy modestly admitted, adding that a close relationship with students allowed her to support them with issues like self esteem and diet.

The world triathlon championships on Australia’s Gold Coast in September represent Tracy’s next goal, with qualification assured from her top three victory at a triathlon in Bedford last Sunday.
