ARNEWOOD School in New Milton is to move to Trust status in the autumn term after governors agreed to give the move the go-ahead just before the summer break.
The school has three partners in the trust – computer company Toshiba, the South’s hands-on interactive science and technology centre INTECH, and Community First (New Forest).
Head teacher Chris Hummerstone said: “It’s about taking forward family learning through e-learning.”
Arnewood School is already a Foundation School with a long-standing reputation for enhancing ICT skills for children and promoting family education.
Mr Hummerstone explained Toshiba was committed to world-wide family learning, while INTECH, which is based near Winchester, is committed to children and adult learning and has the largest planetarium in the country. Ringwood-based Community First does vital work with vulnerable families.
Governors’ chairman Elizabeth Cook said: “We are pleased that we have the opportunity to develop family learning as a School Trust and build upon all we have achieved so far.”
