A CHILDREN'S charity horse event due to be held tomorrow is in jeopardy after thieves stole £4,000 worth of jumps.

The Wimborne and District Riding Club is due to have a day long children’s charity horse show in aid of local charity Tender Loving Care.

But overnight on Thursday thieves broke into the club’s field at Higher Merley Farm and stole eight jumps.

Chairman of the club Denise Robertson, who is also a detective with Dorset Police, said the jumps were distinctive multi-coloured plastic examples and were made by Jump4Joy. She said: “I’m determined to run it but I’m not sure how I’m going to do that yet. I have been left with four jumps. They’ve managed to break into the field and remove the gates.

“They must have had a trailer and vehicle to do it. You can see the tracks.”

Denise said the jumps were distinctive and included a green and white viaduct, blue and white ladders and other multi-coloured pieces.

She added: “I’m appealing for anybody who might see anything like this dumped or anywhere else.

“If anybody has got anything that they can help us out with I would be very grateful.

“I don’t want to let the children down or the charity down.”

If you can help this weekend, call Denise on 07849 459719.

Anyone with information on the break-in or the whereabouts of the stolen jumps should call PC James Howes on 01202 222222 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
