A POOLE mother has been reunited with her son 27 years after she claims her estranged husband kidnapped him.
Avril Grube, 62, said she was given custody of Gavin Paros when her marriage to a Hungarian man collapsed in 1982. The father, who died in 2006, had visiting rights, but took Mr Paros to Hungary and Ms Grube had not seen him since.
But the pair have now been brought together after Mr Garos was found on Facebook.
Mrs Grube and her sister, Beryl Wilson, spent years trying to trace him.
Mrs Wilson said: “[Mr Paros’ father] had visitation rights, he said he was going to the zoo or somewhere and when he didn’t arrive back we found out he had taken him back to Hungary.
“My sister was devastated, her health suffered. I tried everything, but no-one wanted to know.”
In a last ditch attempt to track her nephew down, Ms Wilson put his name into an internet search engine – and couldn’t believe it when his Facebook profile page came up, stating that he was born in Liverpool and naming his mother.
Mrs Grube, who recently suffered a stroke, said: “It means so much to me.”
Mrs Wilson said she had to wait for a few weeks before Mr Paros replied, as he had not looked at the Facebook page for several months.
“As soon as I found him on Facebook I phoned Avril and said, ‘I have some important news’, and told her to sit down, and then I heard a merciful scream.
“It was the happiest day of her life when she met her son. She said there were no words to describe it.
“Gavin has got a family and three children and they are desperate to come to England and live but he needs help to find a house and job.”
