MP Sir John Butterfill under spotlight for kitchen work

MP Sir John Butterfill under spotlight for kitchen work MP Sir John Butterfill under spotlight for kitchen work

MP Sir John Butterfill looks set to be next in line for the Telegraph treatment.

Last week Sir John told the Echo that when the expenses system was announced, a treasury minister told MPs to rejoice and that they didn't have to justify claims.

Now he's in the spotlight for money spent on the kitchen and bathroom of his second home in Bournemouth.

Sir John does not have a copy of his second home expenses and is unable to give exact breakdowns of expenditure.

But yesterday he was contacted by a Daily Telegraph reporter, who asked him about the work.

Sir John told the Echo he had not spent excessively and all the purchases were made from B&Q.

Full story in tomorrow's Echo.

oh dear, poor old John 'Walletfill'.

Anyone who heard his bumbling response to questions on BBC2's Newsnight tonight (Wed) will be in no doubt as to the vast gulf that exists between these folk and the rest of us.

If ever there was a finer example of the bloated, self regarding Tory grandee then I've yet to see one.

He should go now.

No filling his pockets until the next election, no fat pension - he can fund that out of the huge amounts he's made at the taxpayer's expense.

Sir John Butterful was awarded his knighthood in 2003 for 'services to Parliament'. He should be stripped of this knighthood and his Parliamentary seat immediately for 'disservices to Parliament' and not be allowed to continue until he retires on his platinum pension.

I was getting tired of the 'MP Scandal.' But this morning I have seen the reporting about my own MP Sir B and I am absolutely disgusted. I dare not think about how much he might have made in immoral claiming since 1983. He'd better not hide behind his broken ankle now and refuse to comment - looks like he may be one of the worst 'offenders.' I don 't care if it's 'within the rules' - it's greed and should cost him his seat and his knighthood.

Add on the £15k for Servants quarters plus avoidance of Capital Gains on £600K and that's just 2 sums we are told about. I'd like to see 2 columns, one detailing all the extra cash he's thieved from the taxpayer and in the other column what he's actually achieved for the area while in office. I can't think of anything.

Couldn't agree more! He certainly came across as a bumbling idiot. All he achieved was to fuel the (incorrect) view that Bournemouth is full of silly old codgers.
