THE 92-year-old man who was viciously attacked in his Talbot Woods home over two weeks ago has been released from hospital.

The veteran sustained injuries to his face and body following the assault in Dulsie Road, Bournemouth, in the early hours of April 10 when an intruder burst into the property and demanded money.

He was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment and was released on Sunday and is now being cared for by family.

His 84-year-old partner was kicked and punched by the intruder and left horribly shaken by the ordeal.

Police immediately launched an investigation and appealed for witnesses. They also urged the criminal fraternity to step forward and help bring the offender to justice.

The attacker has been described as white, about 5ft 11in and between 30 and 40 years old. He was wearing grey trousers and a white open-necked shirt.

Police believe the same man was responsible for an incident in the Meyrick Park area when an intruder set off a burglar alarm after trying to gain access to a house in Leven Close at about 3am on the same day.

Three people have been arrested by police in connection with the Dulsie Road incident and have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Now two weeks on, detectives have renewed their appeal for information.

DS Phil Swanton, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: “The investigation is still alive and we are still looking for information and would urge anyone who knows or suspects who was responsible for this crime to come forward.”

Anybody who can help is asked to call Dorset Police on 01202 222222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
