OTHER bands demand private jets and monkeys in return for selling their souls to major record companies. Not so Glasvegas. All they wanted to do was record a Christmas album – in a church in Transylvania!
And here, at last, are the results. Released as part of a deluxe version of their superb debut album, or as a separate six-track download, it should come as no surprise to the converts that it’s swathed in jingle bells, holy choirs and bleak mid-winter imagery.
Please Come Back Home is an unholy hymn to the homeless; while the charmingly titled Yuletide throwdown F*** You it’s Over reminds us how much families argue around the tree.
On the other hand, Cruel Moon is a beautiful ballad; and the version of Silent Night will make you weep with bitter joy.
