A MAN was left with a head injury after an assault in Bournemouth town centre. 

The victim, in his 30s, was in Old Christchurch Road near Beale’s Place in the early hours of Saturday morning, May 4. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his head injury and police officers in attendance arrested a Bournemouth man, 31, on suspicion of GBH with intent. 

That morning, witnesses said they saw forensics officers photographing the crime scene inside a police cordon. 

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Dorset Police received a report at 3.54am on Saturday 4 May 2024 that a man aged in his 30s had been assaulted in Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth. 

“Officers attended with the ambulance service and the man was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury. 

“A 31-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.  

“A cordon was put in place to allow for an examination of the scene to be carried out. The cordon was lifted at around 1pm.”
