POLICE officers smashed their way through a Bournemouth home on Friday morning in a drugs raid. 

The team of officers, which included plain clothed officers, broke through the doors of a home in Richmond Park Crescent to execute a warrant. 

Residents reported seeing numerous vans, cars and officers parked up nearby. 

Inside the home, officers found and seized suspected controlled drugs.

Meanwhile a man inside was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. He was taken away in the back of a police van and into custody. 

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: “At around 8.45am on Friday 26 April 2024, officers carried out a warrant under section eight of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act at an address in Richmond Park Crescent in Bournemouth.” 

According to Bournemouth’s neighbourhood police team, the raid was made possible thanks to a resident’s tip off. 

There were more drug-related deaths in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in 2023 compared with 2022, figures from the Office for National Statistics show. 

There were a total of 45 drug poisoning deaths in BCP in 2022 – up from 38 the year before, the data shows. 

The figures cover drug abuse and dependence, fatal accidents, suicides and complications involving controlled and non-controlled drugs, prescription and over-the-counter medications.
