AN  ‘ABSOLUTELY huge riverside beer garden’ with live music and discos - The Olive Branch is our pub of the week.

Just a stone’s throw away from Wimborne’s town centre is a ‘spacious yet cosy’ gastropub.

This ‘chic family pub’ offers year-round entertainment. In the summer, it becomes a hotspot for local artists and bands at the Wimborne Folk Festival.

Bournemouth Echo: The garden at The Olive Branch

The venue is transformed into a winter wonderland with its après ski-style alpine bar in the winter months.

Richard London has been a manager at the pub for the past four years.

He said: “I love working here. All the team and guests are lovely, and we all have a great laugh together.

“It is also a great location, and I enjoy working in the garden in the summer.

From May, Friday nights at The Olive Branch are filled with a diverse line-up of local music acts.

On the last Saturday of every month, the pub gets people dancing with a popular DJ set.

Richard said: “People come to our pub for the atmosphere. Something is interesting to look at everywhere you look.”

On May 1, the Olive Branch is launching its summer menu, which consists of ‘lighter food more catered to sitting in the sun.’

The pub offers a traditional roast dinner every Sunday.

Visitors can choose from West Country beef, pork, or a no-nut roast, served with all the trimmings, unlimited gravy, and Yorkshire puddings.

Dogs are welcome inside and outside the pub.

“We are extremely dog friendly; people often come and enjoy a meal with them”, Richard added.

The Olive Branch is a Hall and Woodhouse pub which opened in the early 2000s.

It sells various IPAs, ciders, wines, cocktails and soft drinks.

Richard said: “We have a house lager called The Olive Branch house lager, the brewery’s take on a German Hells.

“We also have Guinness, which is a deal breaker for many people.”

At the back of the pub is a space called The Cave, which has floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open into a room full of the beers the venue sells.

Richard said: “It is quite cool, and customers enjoy seeing where their drinks come from.”

He added: "We are a popular spot for people to come for a coffee.

"We have really good coffee and a large selection of cakes."
