THE FORMER Nathan’s Famous restaurant in Bournemouth town centre has been put on the market after increasing crime forced the site to close.

The American-style eatery, on Old Christchurch Road, shut its doors for good in February saying owners were concerned for the safety of staff and customers.

Alongside increasing operational costs, a spokesperson for Nathan’s Famous said the site was forced to close after being “subjected to multiple break-ins, vandalism, and abuse towards staff members.”

Marketed by Ellis and Partners Limited, the unit is available for a new lease for £45,000 per annum.

The 2,669 sq ft site is described as a “prominent position in Bournemouth town centre.”

Currently the ground floor is arranged as a restaurant with kitchen areas and the basement as cloakrooms, stores and staff areas.

Nathan’s Famous Bournemouth had been serving New York style hot dogs and burgers since opening in August 2019.

The business continues to operate from its Portswood location in Southampton.
