A CAFÉ centred around freshly roasted Malawian coffee is opening in Christchurch.

The Maravi and Wellness brand is opening a new branch in Saxon Square this month.

Maravi was first launched in Malawi in south east Africa, and has since been brought to the UK with two cafes in Bournemouth and Poole.

Both branches are known for their specialty coffee, homemade cakes and snacks, and chic atmosphere.

The newest, Maravi Coffee Roasters, is set to open at 19 Saxon Square adjacent to the Travelodge, where signage has already gone up.

Its opening day is scheduled for Monday, April 8.

Adam Gaffar, director at Maravi and Wellness, spoke to the Daily Echo following the opening of the Bournemouth branch last spring.

Explaining the principles behind his brand, Adam said: "We have three components of the business - atmosphere, product, and service. They are very important to us, and not one is above the other.

“The people of Malawi have similar principles to what we want. They are spiritual people, and they operate from the heart. It fits well with us.”
