HSBC’S former town centre site has been put on the market for lease for nearly £100,000 a year.

The bank in Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth closed its historic site in October last year after 130 years on the site, having first opened as Midland Bank in 1893.

HSBC later moved into a new and modern branch in nearby Commercial Road.

But now the bank is on Rightmove available for lease at £95,000 per annum – or £7,917 per calendar month.

The site comes with a 2,640 sq ft basement and a ground floor of 3,400 sq ft.

Of the site, Ellis and Partners said: “Double height banking hall suitable for a variety of uses, restaurant, bar, gymnasium, office, showroom, etc., subject to planning.”

In an investment said to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, HSBC’s new town centre branch was described as having “significantly greater” accessibility for customers who are wheelchair users, mobility impaired, partially sighted or neuro-diverse.

Rachel Hill, HSBC UK’s local director, said the banking giant is “committed” to Bournemouth town centre with the opening of the fresh branch.
