PARKING fines at a Bournemouth retail park have been revoked after a traffic light fault forced customers to breach the time limit.

Castlepoint Shopping Park has apologised to customers after a temporary fault with the council-run traffic lights in Woodbury Avenue and Castle Lane West caused undue delays on March 9.

Some shoppers were issued a parking notice after delays made them go over the four-hour parking limit.

The retail park is now working to cancel any notices given on the date and is urging drivers to get in touch if served with one.

A statement said: “We’ve learned about a temporary fault that affected the traffic lights on the public highways at Woodbury Ave and Castle Lane West on Saturday 9 March.

“It may have impacted some of our customers, causing undue delays when leaving Castlepoint’s car park and slipping some past the four-hour limit on our parking.

“We have liaised with the company that manages our car park to seek to cancel any parking notices served on that date.

“But if we didn’t catch any in time, please DM us so we can have parking tickets from that date cancelled, no questions asked.

“Not an ideal end to a day at the shops we appreciate!

“We’re liaising with the highways team involved to understand what went awry.

“Thanks, as always, for your custom and sorry if it impacted your visit this weekend.”

BCP Council, which operates traffic lights, has been approached for a comment.

Castlepoint has been contacted for more information.
