A MAN has been jailed for attempting sexual communications with a child.

Michael Mann, 55, sent messages to a Lycos account of a girl he believed was 12 years old.

However, the account was being run by officers investigating internet child abuse.

Mann was told on multiple occasions he was speaking to a child but continued to ask sexual questions and talking inappropriately.

He asked if she liked sex and said he wanted to kiss her whole body, discussing what her first sexual experience would be like, and requesting photos of her breasts to turn him on.

Mann, of Woodley Gardens in Lymington, pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison at Southampton Crown Court and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Mann was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
