SHOCKING images show a man brandishing a fire extinguisher during a hospital rampage where he spat blood at patients.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s A&E department was forced to evacuate after Christian Liles attacked both staff and patients.

Prosecutor Matthew Mortimer told Bournemouth Crown Court that Liles took himself to the hospital for help with his mental health but got angry when asked to stop laying on the floor.

Images taken from CCTV footage shows the 34-year-old throwing waiting room chairs when he was told that security had been called.

He then turned his attack towards a 78-year-old car crash victim, who was waiting with his wife, by pushing him to the floor.

A nurse attempted to stand between Liles and other patients during the incident on November 9, 2023, when she was pushed to the face, leaving her with temporary hearing loss.

The defendant then headbutted a window before smearing his blood from his head and flicking it at patients and staff.

Staff began evacuating patients further into the hospital while Liles brandished a fire extinguisher and threatened nurses with it.

The security guard arrived and tried to reason with Liles before getting slapped in the face.

After a struggle, the security guard and staff were able to detain he defendant until police arrived.

Mitigating, Ruba Huleihel said that although Liles has no diagnosed mental health conditions, ‘it is obvious there is something wrong’.

Judge William Mousley KC sentenced Liles, of no fixed abode, to 12 months in prison.
