A CYCLIST has been seriously injured after a crash along a busy Bournemouth road.

The male rider, in his 30s and from Bournemouth, was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen cc coupe in Christchurch Road at the junction with Waltham Road yesterday evening, February 12.

He was taken to hospital from treatment to “serious injuries”, according to police.

Meanwhile the driver of the VW was uninjured.

A road block was out in place while emergency services treated the injured cyclist and carry out an examination of the scene.

Police constable Steve Eastwood, of the traffic unit, said: “We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken with officers to please come forward.

“Also, I am keen to hear from anyone who has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle and was in the area at the time to check whether they may have captured anything of relevance to assist our investigation.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closure.”

A spokeswoman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6pm on Monday 12 February to an incident in Bournemouth.

"We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer and we conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
