A POPULAR fish and chip shop has been nominated for a national award.

Ricky’s in Southbourne is in the running for the employee of the year award at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2024.

Jonathan Ciardini at Ricky's is one of 10 chip shop employees across the country to be shortlisted.

Ricky's brings ‘traditional fish and chips to Southbourne Crossroads, adding awesome fresh and zingy street food into the mix, right on your doorstep.’

The award provides a chance to be in the top spot of small businesses in the community.

President of the National Federation of Fish Friers Andrew Crook, an awards organiser said: “The greatest asset any chip shop, or business, could ever have is its people and we have received a fantastic amount of nominations for individuals who are setting the bar sky high and blazing a fantastic trail for others.

“It’s so exciting for us to see how passionate these professionals are for the industry and how much their careers mean to them, as well as the customers they serve.”

Sarah Robb, food service marketing manager at Premier Foods, and sponsor of the category, said:  “As home to some of the nation’s much-loved brands such as McDougalls, Bisto, and Batchelors, we’re delighted to support this new category in the National Fish, and Chip awards.

The winner of the award will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
