A WOMAN is fighting for her life in hospital after a crash this morning. 

A woman in her 20s from north Dorset was air lifted to Southampton Hopsital this morning with life-threatening injuries after a car flipped on its roof on the B3082 Blandford Road. 

Police were called to the crash involving only a white Citroen C1 at 6.07am on Thursday, September 28, close to Badbury Rings. 

The young woman was said to have been pulled from the car before the fire service had arrived. 

Her family has been told of the crash and a road closure is currently in place while emergency services deal with the incident. 

Officers are carrying out enquiries and are asking for help for anybody who may have witnessed the crash. 

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision. 

“I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or anyone who have may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, to please get in touch. 

“Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their patience while the road closure is in place. This allows us to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 06:29hrs. 

“We sent two air ambulances, an operations officer, and two double-crewed land ambulances. We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.” 

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: “We were called at 6.12am today following reports of a road traffic collision on the B3082 Blandford Road, Shapwick. 

“Firefighters from Wimborne and Poole were mobilised and on arrival found one vehicle on its roof. 

“A member of the public had pulled the driver from the vehicle prior to our arrival and fire crews completed casualty care and scene safety until the ambulance service were in attendance.”
