A spectacular scene of sunflowers can be seen just outside Dorchester from today.

The ever-popular Dorset Sunflower Trail will open to the public today (Friday, July 28) from 11am to 4pm.

The colourful trail has been brought to life at Maiden Castle Farm just outside of Dorchester.

Visitors can walk through fields of the stunning flowers whilst they are at the height of bloom as it returns for its third year.

Half of the profits made from the trail will go towards the Special Care Baby Unit in Dorset County Hospital.

There will also be plenty of photo opportunities to make special memories with friends and family.

Following a successful collaboration last year, Dorchester Town Council will also be running a number of sunflower-themed events in the town.

Dorchester and Poundbury have been bursting with flower power from mid-July, creating a Summer of Sunflowers for all to enjoy.

Entry to the Sunflower Trail is £5 per person and more information is available on the Maiden Castle Farm website.
