Motorists are being warned to plan ahead due to overnight road closures on the A338 Spur Road this week.

The main road in and out of Bournemouth will be closed in one direction across four nights, starting on Monday, April 17.

This is to allow Dorset Council contractors to carry out carriageway maintenance gully clearing works.

The southbound A338 Spur Road will be closed from Ashley Heath roundabout to Blackwater junction overnight on Monday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 18.

The northbound side of the dual carriageway will be shut to vehicles between the same two junctions on Wednesday, April 19, and Thursday, April 20.

The closures will come into force at 9pm each night, with them lifted at 6am the following day.

Dorset Council has said signed a diversion route will be in place.

Bournemouth Echo:

During the southbound closures, motorists will be directed to take the A31 westbound and continue on Ringwood Road into Ferndown before taking the A347 to Parley Cross and turning onto the B3073 Christchurch Road past Bournemouth Airport, through Hurn and up to Blackwater junction.

On the northbound closure nights, the diversion will run in the opposite direction.
