A WATER company in Bournemouth has said its average household bill will be lower than last year – but it is still slightly higher than some other recent years.

Bournemouth Water’s average household bills for 2023/2024 are predicted to be £140, compared with £142 last year.

Bournemouth Water’s chief customer and digital officer, Laura Flowerdew, said: “We understand the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis for our customers, which is why we have worked hard to reduce bills this year.

“We strive to help any customers who need it and we encourage any customers who are worried about their bill to get in touch and see what additional support we can offer.”

Bournemouth Water’s average household customer bill for 2020/21 was £136, which was £8 less than the year before.

Bournemouth Water says it is targeting to eradicate water poverty by 2025, through its financial assistance schemes including its support tariffs.

Customers who are struggling to pay their bills are encouraged to get in touch to access the wide range of support and assistance available.

In December 2022, Bournemouth Water’s parent company, Pennon, accelerated its pioneering WaterShare+ scheme, sharing £20million across the group with eligible household customers for the second time as either money back on their bills or shares in Bournemouth Water's parent company, Pennon.
