SUCCESSFUL Cherries bidder Marc Jackson has told the Daily Echo in the past few minutes that his consortium's plans for the club are "visionary, strategic and sustainable".

Jackson's bid for the club was accepted by administrator Gerald Krasner, Begbies Traynor confirmed earlier this afternoon.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, a delighted Jackson said: "Our hopes for the football club are visionary, strategic and sustainable, and will protect the long-term future of the club."

Confusion mounted earlier this afternoon when Begbies Traynor released a statement to the Echo and other media claiming chairman Jeff Mostyn's consortium had won the race to purchase the club.

But just minutes later, the Echo received a call from a Begbies Traynor spokesperson, telling us to scrap the statement - even though it had already appeared on our website.

Then, at around 4.30pm, the Leeds-based firm emailed another statement, revealing that Jackson was, in fact, the successful bidder.

When the Echo contacted Jackson and vice-chairman Steve Sly prior to the second statement, both men said they knew nothing about the successful bid.

In the second statement to the press, Begbies Traynor said: "Following the earlier press release issued today, the joint administrators, Gerald Krasner and Julie Palmer from Begbies Traynor, required further clarification from Mr Mostyn's consortium.

"As a result of this, it was apparent that the bid could not continue and was not acceptable to the joint administrators.

"As a consequence, the bid from the consortium led by Mr Jackson has been accepted, and Mr Mostyn's has lapsed.

"Once completion has taken place, a further announcement will be made."

The firm's spokesperson added: "Mr Jackson has until the close of play on Monday to lodge the money into a bank account. There will be no further announcements until all the legal documentation has been completed."
