A MAKE-UP and skincare brand which aims to give women confidence when exercising and being active is launching a two-week pop-up in a Bournemouth department store Bobby’s.

Skin in Motion is on site at Bobby's in the Square from today, September 11, until Sunday, September 25.

Founder Gia Mills, who is a celebrity make-up artist, told the Daily Echo: “We are really passionate about supporting local communities.

“Going into communities and having fun and bringing the brand in rather than just going to the main cities is important for us.

"It really brings the brand to life and ours lends itself brilliantly for the clientele in Bournemouth.

“The town is up and coming, I have met some brilliant people and from knowing what Bobby’s is evolving and growing, it is a great place for us to come, showcase the brand and have a bit of fun.”

The visit to Bournemouth is Skin in Motion’s first department store pop-up since launching two-and-a-half years ago, with the events coming together in a matter of months over the summer.

Discussing why she launched the brand, Gia, whose clients as a make-up artist include Hollywood actors and sports stars, said: “When I found out about four years ago that a lot of women are put off from exercise by their appearance, I thought that was terrible and I could not find anything that worked and was designed for when you are moving, when you are hot, when you are sweating.

“I wanted to create confidence-boosting skincare and make-up to give women that little boost to get out and move, to not have that reason to not exercise.

“Also, I have just started perimenopause – it is huge in the press at the moment. Our products also work for all life stages. Its sweatproof, breathable, all the symptoms and issues women go through with perimenopause and menopause, our products work for that. It is great for the fitness side and it is excellent whether you are a teenager of in midlife.

“When your skin is in motion, life is in motion. You don’t sit still when you are wearing make-up.”

The pop-up, which will be conducted in an appropriate and respectful manner sensitive to the current time of national mourning, has been supported by the team at Bournemouth gym R1SE.

Throughout the two weeks the pop-up will give people the chance to buy from the range, try products and meet the team.

Special makeover events are taking place on Friday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 20.

Tickets include a 15-minute facial with a professional celebrity make-up artist, a redeemable voucher against products on sale and a complimentary lip-balm and pom-pom keyring.

A public yoga session with an instructor from R1SE has already sold out for Saturday, September 17, but a second session has been added for September 24.

Gia said: “So far we have had a really good response from the town and we want to keep that going.

"We would love to be stocked at Bobby’s and whenever we can, do stuff once the community gets to know us.”
