The Dorset Hero Awards in association with Talbot Village Trust have been formally launched today with a call to our readers to nominate their candidates.

This is your chance to tell us about the people we should honour during the next few weeks closing date for nominations June 2.

Tracy Hayden, director of sales, on behalf of publishers Newsquest, said: “The awards are driven to recognise the hard work, dedication, innovation, and care delivered across all sectors of society.

"The health service will be a major source of our heroes, I am sure. However, it will not be at the exclusion of others.

Bournemouth Echo:

“The emergency services, care sector, key workers and ordinary people in all walks of life have done amazing things during the last 12 months. We want to hear about them and why they are so special.

“Our news titles report almost daily on the many heroics that have been seen in the pandemic and now it is time to step back and give them our real appreciation.”

Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, chairman of Talbot Village Trust, said: “It is an absolute honour to be supporting the Dorset Hero Awards again for a second year running. The awards are such a fantastic initiative, recognising some of the incredibly selfless people we have here in Dorset.

“Supporting our community is at the forefront of everything we do at Talbot Village Trust, so we are delighted the awards have returned and is growing in strength. We cannot wait to use this opportunity to further support, thank and champion some of our local heroes.”

These awards are not seeking worldwide heroes, just the ones who are down your street, or in your workplace or have come to your aid at home, in care or in hospital. They might be the delivery person, the bus driver, hairdresser or neighbour.

So, tell us who you would like us to honour. Someone perhaps who has been a lifesaver or has lifted your spirits. Click https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/awards/dorsetheroawards2022/ to nominate.
