BOURNEMOUTH beach has fallen from grace and is no longer on TripAdvisor’s list of best beaches in Europe or even the world.
Last year Bournemouth beach was also crowned fifth best-rated beach in Europe and 20th in the world in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards.
However, this year things have taken a turn for the worst with Bournemouth beach not just knocked off the top spot, but removed from the list entirely.
The awards are based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings from Tripadvisor travellers for beaches, gathered over a 12 month period.
The 'Best of the Best Beaches' also takes into account the volume of “saves” for beaches on Tripadvisor, reflecting travellers' longing to visit new places.

Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos was crowned the best beach in the world for 2022.
With more than 7,200 reviews to-date (90 per cent of which are 5-star), this quintessential Caribbean paradise has travellers raving about its white sand and crystal clear water.
And it’s not all doom and gloom for Dorset, with Weymouth beach coming in Europe’s top 25 beaches.
Christine Maguire, VP, global media business at Tripadvisor said: “This list has something for everyone, because it was determined by the millions of different travellers all over the world reviewing their favourite beaches on Tripadvisor throughout 2021.
“Although last year was still far from ‘normal,’ these are the beaches travellers visited and loved more than any others.” said Christine Maguire, VP, Global Media Business at Tripadvisor.
Luskentyre on the Isle of Harris and Bamburgh Beach in Northumberland are the UK’s top ranking beaches, placing seventh and eighth in Europe respectively, while in the south of the UK, Porthminster Beach in St Ives, Cornwall comes in at 11th and Dorset’s Weymouth Beach places 19th.
