A RAFT of additional acts have been drafted in to join headliners Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols and the Police at this summer's Isle of Wight Festival.

New signings include Amy MacDonald, Starsailor, Newton Faulkner, The Answer, One Night Only, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Blackstone Cherry and The Delays.

They will join the headliners plus a line-up that includes N.E.R.D, Ian Brown, The Kooks, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall, The Zutons, The Enemy, Iggy and The Stooges, The Hoosiers and Scouting for Girls, on the festival bill at Seaclose Park, Newport, on June 13, 14 and 15.

Now in its seventh year since its reincarnation in 2002, the Isle of Wight Festival brings together 50,000 free spirited, music-loving friends, families and festival-goers in front of one almighty stage, in a stunning setting.

It has been officially recognised as one of the most distinctive and well-loved festivals on the calendar with awards for Best Major UK Festival and Outstanding Contribution to Festivals, which was awarded to organiser John Giddings.

The origins of the festival lie in the late 1960s and early 1970s when acts like The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan played to an audience of hundreds of thousands.
